The Short Version
Black Cultural News does not sell your personal information. We don’t trade or rent our readers’ names, emails or browsing history to anyone, and we don’t use your information for targeted advertising.
What Could Count as “Sharing”
Some privacy laws, like California’s, treat certain cookies as “sharing” personal information, even when no money changes hands. On our Site, that could include:
- Google Analytics, which helps us count which stories get read. It only runs if you turn on “Help us see what readers like” in your cookie choices.
- YouTube videos in our stories. YouTube only loads if you turn on “YouTube videos” or click Play on a video.
- Advertising partners. We don’t use any today. If we ever add them, they’ll only load if you turn on “Ads picked for you.”
All of these are off by default until you say yes.
How to Opt Out
You can opt out of any sale or sharing of your personal information at any time. You don’t need an account and you don’t need to prove who you are to opt out.

“Opt me out now” turns off everything except the cookies the Site needs to work. The choice is saved in your browser, so if you clear your cookies or use a different browser or device, you’ll need to choose again.
Global Privacy Control
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request to opt out. We automatically keep analytics, video and advertising cookies off for that browser, and you won’t see our cookie banner unless you open your cookie choices yourself.

You can also email [email protected] with the subject “Do Not Sell or Share.” If you subscribe to our newsletter, include the email address you signed up with. You can also have an authorized agent contact us for you.
Sensitive Information
We don’t collect sensitive personal information, such as health conditions, race or ethnicity, precise location, or government ID numbers, through the Site. Reading a health story doesn’t tell us anything about your health.
Your Other Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to know what information we have about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We won’t treat you differently for using any of these rights. Learn more in our Privacy Policy, or email [email protected].
