Terms of Use

Last updated: September 10, 2026

Welcome to Black Cultural News. These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) explain the rules for using blackculturalnews.com (the “Site”). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Site.

1. Who We Are

Black Cultural News (“we,” “us,” or “our”) publishes news, culture, health, business, education and opinion content for and about Black communities. You can reach us anytime at [email protected].

2. Our Content Is for Information Only

We work hard to be accurate, but our articles are for general information. They are not medical, legal, financial, tax or other professional advice. Health stories don’t replace a doctor. Money and legal stories don’t replace a qualified professional who knows your situation. Programs, grants, laws and deadlines we report on can change, so always confirm details with the official source before acting.

Opinion pieces reflect the views of their authors and not necessarily the views of Black Cultural News.

3. Using Our Content

Everything on the Site, including articles, photos, graphics, logos and design, belongs to Black Cultural News or the people who licensed it to us, and is protected by copyright and trademark law.

  • You may: read and share links to our stories, share them on social media, and quote a short excerpt with credit and a link back to the original article.
  • You may not: copy or republish full articles or images, remove credits or copyright notices, sell our content, or use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you, without our written permission.
  • Automated use: you may not scrape, bulk download or copy the Site with bots or other automated tools, including to train artificial intelligence systems, without our written permission.

Want to republish or license a story? Email [email protected].

4. Comments and Submissions

If you post a comment, send a news tip, or submit a story, photo or other material, you keep ownership of it. You give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive permission to publish, edit for length and clarity, and share it on the Site, in our newsletter and on our social media, with credit to you where appropriate.

Please keep it respectful. You agree not to post anything that:

  • is hateful, harassing, threatening or discriminatory;
  • is false, defamatory or invades someone’s privacy;
  • infringes someone else’s copyright or other rights;
  • is spam, advertising or contains malware; or
  • breaks any law.

We can edit, decline or remove any comment or submission at our discretion, and we may block anyone who repeatedly breaks these rules. Only send us material you have the right to share.

5. Newsletter and Emails

If you sign up for our newsletter, we’ll send you news and updates from Black Cultural News. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out anytime. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your information.

6. Advertising and Sponsored Content

The Site may show ads and sponsored content. Sponsored articles are clearly labeled. An ad or sponsorship doesn’t mean we endorse the advertiser, and advertisers are responsible for their own products, services and claims. We may decline any ad that conflicts with our values.

7. Links and Embedded Content

Our stories may link to other websites or include videos and posts from services like YouTube. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content or privacy practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.

8. Copyright Complaints

We respect creators’ rights. If you believe something on the Site uses your work without permission, email [email protected] with:

  • your name and contact information;
  • a description of the work you own;
  • the link to the page on our Site where it appears;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorized; and
  • a statement that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.

We’ll review every notice and remove or credit material when appropriate.

9. Site Availability

We may change, pause or discontinue any part of the Site at any time. We don’t promise the Site will always be available or free of errors.

10. Disclaimers

The Site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don’t guarantee that the content is complete, current or error-free.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Black Cultural News and its owners, writers and partners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss that comes from your use of, or reliance on, the Site or its content.

12. Your Responsibility

If your use of the Site or anything you submit breaks these Terms or the law and leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Pierce County, Washington, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted, and the “Last updated” date above will show the latest version. If you keep using the Site after an update, you accept the new Terms.
